About initiative

EvalYouth ECA is the regional initiative of young and emerging evaluators (YEE) from Eastern Europe, Central Asia, and South Caucasus. It was founded in June 2017 with the aim to advocate for the capacity building of YEEs (young and emerging evaluators) in the region, promote youth meaningful participation in evaluation.

EvalYouth ECA is the regional chapter of the global network of young and emerging evaluators EvalYouth. Currently, EvalYouth consists of more than twenty regional and national chapters engaging YEEs across the world.

EvalYouth operates under the umbrella of EvalPartners. EvalPartners is a partnership initiative with members representing Civil Society Organizations (CSOs), including UN and VOPEs. EvalPartners was created by the International Organization for Cooperation in Evaluation (IOCE) and the United Nations (UN) with the goal to influence policymakers, public opinion, and other key stakeholders into recognizing the need in effective evaluation as necessary to any important decision.

Who are Young and Emerging Evaluators (YEEs)?

● evaluators under the age of 35; and/or

● evaluators with less than five years of related professional experience; and/or

● recent university graduates with an interest in joining the occupation or development; and/or

● or development professionals with technical knowledge in evaluation who would like to focus their career on evaluation;

Leadership

EvalYouth ECA initiative is led by young and emerging evaluators from ECA region.

From February 2021, EvalYouth ECA is trying the horizontal leadership structure based on circles. Here is the core/leadership circle of the initiative:
